About Us

Welcome To Kodo

We want to live in a world where children are free and empowered to think, create, fail and learn through play. A world where inventive thinkers and leaders are nurtured from their earliest stages. At Kodo, we strive to further this dream by creating innovative learning materials which act as catalysts for authentic play, and provide measurable learning. We design for the classroom, for teachers, and at the core we design for children. Too often companies have ulterior motives, but at Kodo we focus solely on ways to impact learning and enhance the lives of children. This is our mission and our passion.

Hands on experience is learning at its best. Through play children experience numeracy, literacy, science, social interactions, and so much more. Play is learning and Kodo provides play.

At Kodo we all believe in the impact quality materials have on children's lives. We work everyday to research, design, build, communicate, and ship the power of play to impact the lives of children around the world.

note from the founder

I originally founded Kodo Kids in 2008 with only one product, the Chalk Spinner. At the time I was a designer, a big kid and a new father. The Chalk Spinner took me to my very first education conference, NAEYC (why not go big?). While I knew I had something cool, I had no idea of the educational ramifications until I heard the excitement that came from the educators and industry experts that stopped by our booth. I returned home with a new purpose: how could I use my strengths to make a real difference in the education of our earliest learners? Many years later, I feel that Kodo Kids has truly made that impact and will continue to do so well into the future.

In today’s world, children have less opportunity to think deeply and innovate creatively. Experiences which cultivate these skill sets are largely absent in early education, at the age which these skills are most critical. Kodo kids seeks to help provide these experiences through playful, open-ended products which promote intentional learning, investigative personalities and out of the box problem solving. Through these experiences, the foundation for lifelong curiosity and development of the whole child is cultivated.
