The Kodo Kids Wind Tunnel was specifically designed for children to experiment with and learn about air movement. This clear, pivoting tube is a unique teaching tool that supports exploration and invites investigation. Children will explore relationships with natural wind currents by adjusting the speed and direction of the airflow and examining drag and force using various materials within the tunnel. It easily pivots from vertical to horizontal or any point in between and stays in place once positioned. Experiment with parachute men, tissue paper, packing peanuts, play silks, coffee filters, cone cups, or any other material that strikes intrigue!

**Please note that the fan (air circulator) is sold separately from the Wind Tunnel. We recommend purchasing this from Amazon. We can’t beat Amazon’s price, so we’re passing the best deal along to you! This is a teaching tool that requires adult supervision at all times.

The Wind Tunnel base is 22″x18″. It’s 64.5″ tall. The tube’s diameter is 10 1/4″.

The Wind Tunnel is 65 inches tall x 22 inches x 18 inches.

This product requires assembly.

Appropriate for ages 3+

Q: Is the fan included?

No, the fan is not included. We recommend purchasing a Vornado 530 Compact Fan from Amazon. We can’t beat Amazon’s price, so we’re passing the best deal along to you!

Q: What is the netting for?

We’ve included a generous length of netting for you to fasten around your fan. This will ensure that small materials remain out of the fan’s mechanical parts while air flows freely.

Q: Why does the wind tube section pivot?

We designed the pivoting wind tube so children could experience the difference when the air pushes the object from below instead of from the side. The pivoting tube also allows you to place a long plank or series of ramps inside the tube on which objects can move. One example is fashioning cars with sails using small bricks and paper. Invite children to test how they travel along the horizontal wind tube and notice how the sail’s size can affect how they catch the wind, which, in turn, affects their distance and speed.

Q: Can children pivot the tube themselves?

Although some preschool and school-age children will be able to pivot the tube, we recommend that this action be performed by adults only.

How does playing with the Wind Tunnel or Flight Lab support my curriculum?

Many curricula include Earth and Physical Science topics such as the Weather, The Elements, Force and Motion, and Flow. Use the Wind Tunnel to support children’s early thinking about flight, air currents, force, surface area, and design.
