Science is the only subject that makes sense to naturally curious children, encouraging them to think critically about the world around them. By introducing children to core scientific concepts through hands-on activities, they can experiment with ideas, test their theories, and observe the results in a way that goes beyond traditional textbook learning. These science learning materials make STEM fun and engaging, where children grasp the concepts with a better understanding instead of a boring class.

Why Are Science Toys Important?

Playtime based on science concepts helps children develop critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and logical reasoning. This kind of play pushes young and curious minds to ask questions, make predictions, observe behaviors, and eventually draw conclusions from what they observe. These learning tools are based on scientific concepts that help children learn to approach problems differently, understand how things work, and slowly build an appreciation for science, which will help them in their future academics.

Science learning materials make vague ideas fun for children— like light, air, gravity, and motion. These tools take inspiration from physics, chemistry, and biology concepts to introduce children to a new world of science without overwhelming them. This creates a mindset of exploration as they continuously do trial and error throughout the learning process, eventually reaching conclusions and comprehending concepts.

Bringing Science Toys into the Classroom

Introducing these science toys for kids into the classroom means turning it into a fun and interactive science lab where children are excited to explore, experiment, and participate in hands-on learning. These tools allow children to observe firsthand how different scientific concepts play out in action, gaining a clear understanding that they will remember it for a lifetime. It also sparks their curiosity to learn more about the world and the things that make up our universe in more profound ways.

Science Toys You’ll Love

With our diverse range of science-focused learning materials, children will have fun exploring the world of animals, letters, and nature up close. We start with the Bird Blocks, a set of beautiful learning materials with Art Nouveau-style writing and detailed images of birds along with letters on each side. The collection is perfect for introducing kids to the insect kingdom and language together.

Animal X-Rays are among the most intriguing science learning materials in the collection. They give a detailed overview of the anatomy and hidden structures of different animals. This set includes 14 X-rays of mammals, reptiles, fish, and birds, along with matching picture cards to make science fun and interesting. These tools are a must-have in a light lab where kids can experiment with color and light to observe the anatomy of animals. Who knows, there might even be future biologists in the classroom!

For a more concrete learning experience, the Animal Coverings Matching Tiles are a science teacher’s greatest asset in a classroom full of young and curious children. These tiles allow children to match animals with their “clothing,” like reptiles to scales and birds to feathers. With 15 pairs of wooden tiles, teachers can test children's memory by letting them match each piece of clothing with the animal. The tiles have dots on the back to show if it’s a correct match, which is perfect for giving the little learners a sense of achievement and competition while learning something useful.

The Bug ABC Blocks combine two very different worlds into one. The set includes 228 colorful blocks featuring a mix of bugs and letters. It includes uppercase and lowercase alphabets and extra vowels for spelling practice. Children can practice spelling bug names while enjoying a hands-on experience that connects language learning with the fascinating world of insects.

Enhance Learning with Kodo Kids

From sparking a love for science to prompting children to explore the nature around them, these learning materials have proved to be an unlimited resource to teach children about STEM concepts. Whether figuring out insect anatomy or thinking about nature’s wonders, science materials help children think outside the box and never stop experimenting.

Don’t just take our word for it…

Our products and support are celebrated by educators and children alike.

Jaci I.

Director of Early Childhood Education @ Congregation Beth Elohim

We have set up a sensory room with many of Kodo’s materials–light table, magnet wall, wind tunnel–and it’s a favorite space for all of our classes to visit. Parents and professional visitors are quite impressed with the uniqueness and open-ended aspect of the materials.

I met with the founder many years ago at a NAEYC conference when he was just starting and had just a few products and was immediately impressed with his understanding of how young children learn. It has been a pleasure to watch the company grow while maintaining the integrity of your knowledge of how young children learn best through active participation and exploration of their environment.

Cathy H.

Teacher @ Tennie Russell Primary School

Our little learners are finding new ways to explore through light, movement, engineering and more. Adding the wind tunnel to our lab has been a game changer in terms of excitement level and inquiry. Students eagerly explore how things blow when the tunnel is adjusted to varying angles, and they discover the differences in materials and how well they move through and out of the tunnel. We expanded our engineering/building area by increasing choices with the Swiss Ramp Stands and the Discovery Ramps set. In doing that, we sparked a higher interest in force and motion, including problem-solving on how to stop said motion. These are just some of the items we purchased from Kodo Kids with our grant, and we look forward to seeing our young minds at work as we continue to expand our STEAM lab.

Nature Preschool Teacher @ Oak Ridge Elementary

The Outdoor Ramps have been a fantastic addition to support outdoor learning at Oak Ridge Elementary. Students in preschool through 1st grade have been able to use the ramps in multiple environments, including indoors, on our playground, in our forest outdoor classroom, and in our prairie outdoor classroom. In addition, all students, regardless of their abilities, have been able to participate in ramp play. Students who are wheelchair-bound are able to participate in ramp play with their classmates due to having longer length sections that reach the child’s chair height.
