What makes this collection special is that it has something for every child—whether they love structure or open-ended exploration, there’s a tool that will engage them. It’s more than just playtime; it's a chance to let their imaginations run wild while developing essential skills along the way.

Why Tabletop Construction Products Are Essential

The Tabletop Construction collection goes beyond fun—it helps children build important life skills without them even realizing it. These toys encourage problem-solving, improve hand-eye coordination, and introduce kids to basic concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Think about it: when kids are constructing, deconstructing, and rebuilding, they’re not just playing—they're experimenting, exploring, and learning through trial and error.

These toys create a perfect environment for kids to embrace curiosity and experimentation. Children start to understand things like balance, spatial awareness, and even geometry by working with blocks, tiles, and other creative tools. They learn to think critically, try new solutions, and collaborate with their peers—all of which are essential life skills they’ll carry with them beyond the playroom or classroom.

And let’s not forget about the teamwork aspect. Whether kids are playing with friends at home or in a group at school, these products promote cooperation and communication. Figuring out how to build something together, discussing different ideas, or simply sharing the same space while working individually—these are the social skills that are just as important as the physical ones.

Why Teachers Should Have These Tools in the Classroom

For teachers, these products are a goldmine for active, hands-on learning. We all know how hard it can be to keep young minds engaged, especially in a classroom setting. However, when students can physically interact with objects and materials, they naturally become more involved. Learning doesn’t just happen on paper or through lectures; it happens when kids can touch, move, and manipulate things in real time.

Adding construction products to your classroom allows students to grasp abstract concepts in a tangible way. Instead of simply hearing about geometry or physics, kids are building structures, experimenting with shapes, and figuring out how balance works on their own. These products make complex topics feel simple and fun.

Tabletop Construction Products You’ll Love

There’s a reason these products stand out—they are designed to be versatile, fun, and practical for both homes and classrooms. One of the standout items is the Kodo Toys + Games Comprehensive Kit. This set is perfect for schools or parents who want a full range of materials for interactive play. It offers a variety of building pieces, perfect for creating endless structures.

If you’re looking to help kids explore color theory in a hands-on way, the Yim Yams Earth Colors set is a fantastic option. These stackable, organic-shaped pieces allow children to play with balance and color simultaneously. For those who prefer more traditional play, the Gosling Square Building Blocks offer beautifully designed blocks that encourage children to think like mini-architects as they construct their own buildings.

For the younger learners, the Table Towers set is an excellent choice. It’s simple to use, easy to handle, and allows children to practice their fine motor skills while building towers that can topple and be rebuilt in seconds. These types of toys are great for helping little ones develop coordination and patience.

Jaci I.

Director of Early Childhood Education @ Congregation Beth Elohim

We have set up a sensory room with many of Kodo’s materials–light table, magnet wall, wind tunnel–and it’s a favorite space for all of our classes to visit. Parents and professional visitors are quite impressed with the uniqueness and open-ended aspect of the materials.

I met with the founder many years ago at a NAEYC conference when he was just starting and had just a few products and was immediately impressed with his understanding of how young children learn. It has been a pleasure to watch the company grow while maintaining the integrity of your knowledge of how young children learn best through active participation and exploration of their environment.

Teacher @ Tennie Russell Primary School

Our little learners are finding new ways to explore through light, movement, engineering and more. Adding the wind tunnel to our lab has been a game changer in terms of excitement level and inquiry. Students eagerly explore how things blow when the tunnel is adjusted to varying angles, and they discover the differences in materials and how well they move through and out of the tunnel. We expanded our engineering/building area by increasing choices with the Swiss Ramp Stands and the Discovery Ramps set. In doing that, we sparked a higher interest in force and motion, including problem-solving on how to stop said motion. These are just some of the items we purchased from Kodo Kids with our grant, and we look forward to seeing our young minds at work as we continue to expand our STEAM lab.

Nature Preschool Teacher @ Oak Ridge Elementary

The Outdoor Ramps have been a fantastic addition to support outdoor learning at Oak Ridge Elementary. Students in preschool through 1st grade have been able to use the ramps in multiple environments, including indoors, on our playground, in our forest outdoor classroom, and in our prairie outdoor classroom. In addition, all students, regardless of their abilities, have been able to participate in ramp play. Students who are wheelchair-bound are able to participate in ramp play with their classmates due to having longer length sections that reach the child’s chair height.
