The Magnet Wall will impact the way you teach and how children learn in your classroom. Inspiring collaboration, innovation, prediction, and productive struggle, it gives children opportunities to elevate their learning and develop a foundation in physical science. Teachers use the Magnet Wall as an open-ended canvas for virtually any curriculum and philosophy. The Magnet wall is the essential, must-have piece for your classroom!
The Magnet Wall puts investigation-based inquiry and systems thinking skills to work in classrooms, on playgrounds, and in community spaces. Each model comes with the Fundamentals Pack of parts and features indoor or outdoor trim, unlimited expansion options, and endless opportunities for open-ended investigations.
Our original Magnet Wall is a vertical workspace for experimentation with ramps and systems. Plenty of construction space promotes creative thinking and problem solving as children build extensive Rube Goldberg like contraptions!
Take Kodo’s Magnet Wall from classroom to classroom or outside for the day with this mobile version. Share with other classrooms or with the entire school in common spaces. Mobile makes the Magnet Wall very versatile!
Add complexity to children’s indoor Magnet Wall systems with parts like curvy wooden coaster ramps, extra rings, and many more!
Sun or shade? The mobile version of Kodo’s Outdoor Magnet Wall provides options for teachers to change the playspace at a moments notice. Sturdy casters allow the wall to be moved in or out, or shared between classrooms or programs.

About the Play
How would you describe the play value?
Magnet Walls are enjoyed by individuals, pairs, and small groups. They inspire prediction, communication, inventiveness, imagination, and problem-solving. Children can enjoy independent, parallell, cooperative, and associative play while exploring possibilities of the Magnet Wall.
How does play with the Magnet Wall support my curriculum?
The Magnet Wall tops our list of must-haves for supporting innovation, integrated STEM concept development, design and systems thinking. Children and adults can use their experiences to explore cause and effect relationships, trial and error, prediction and testing, data interpretation, chain reactions, and more. Look to your physical science curriculum for topics such as Inclined Planes, Magnetism, and Systems Design.
What other materials can we combine or use with Magnet Walls?
Certainly a variety of balls is recommended for children to test and compare. Wiffle balls and Black and White Balls are terrific with magnetic ramps. We also love to challenge children to build a ramp system that begins on the wall and ends on the floor so would recommend Kodo’s Tubes Set, See-Inside Pipe and Magnet Wall Chutes and Tubes Pack. The balls or natural rolling materials children have collected such as pinecones need to land somewhere so having Metal Pails or sturdy Fabric Bags at the end of the “off the wall’ ramp courses would be nice. Because children like to invent and create their own parts we’ve developed a set of Maker Magnets which are platforms used to attach child-made parts. For outdoors when adding mud, water, or slurry having a set of Water Pitchers or Metal Pails is a must.

What other accessories are available?
We’ve designed a wide range of accessories to extend the learning. Programs that opt for an Indoor style may enjoy our Magnet Wall Rubber Ramp, Wooden Gears pack, or Knock Knock Blocks. We’ve also designed a set of handy Maker Magnets which are platforms children use to attach parts they’ve created themselves. For the outdoor versions we reccommend with the Water Wall or Aqua Circuits Pack.
What children's books are recommended to support exploration with Magnet Walls?

About the Product
What factors should be considered when deciding between a mounted vs mobile style?
Deciding between a wall-mounted and mobile version can be difficult. Consider the dedicated wall space you have, whether portability is important to you, and where you might keep a mobile style when not in use. Also consider the following: The extension panels will only work with the wall-mounted styles, so if you want a very long Magnet Wall, choose a wall-mounted version. An outdoor mobile style could be better suited than the wall-mounted outdoor if you’re in a region of the country that experiences extreme high or low temperatures. If you share the physical space with another program a mobile version might be best as it can be rolled away into a large storage space. We’re happy to speak with you to ensure your program needs are met! Give us a call or drop us an email.
Where can I mount it?
The indoor wall-mounted style can be installed on drywall, brick, cement, and really any type of interior wall. The outdoor wall-mounted style can be mounted to exterior walls and fencing. We leave it to you to choose the best mounting hardware for the interior or exterior surface you’ve chosen. If you need some advice about options for installing your Magnet Wall, our engineering and design team will be happy to help, just give us a call!
Can an outdoor version be mounted on an interior wall?
Yes, the Outdoor version can be used indoors, of course. The trim and ball catching trays on the outdoor version are weather resistant plastic that is off-white in color. Some programs prefer it indoors for a number of reasons including their environmental aesthetic.
Does Kodo offer installation services?
We do not, but our engineering team will gladly talk with you should you run into any issues during installation!
Can I make it bigger?
Of course! Wall-mounted versions can be extended to any length you desire. Extension panel packs are sold separately and include trim and ball catching tray. Dimensions of the extension panels are 34″ wide x x 52 inches tall x 8 inches deep. Programs installing Magnet Walls in STEM labs, community spaces, hallways, and Libraries often chose to add extension panels to accommodate multiple groups of children.
Are any magnetic parts included?
Yes! Every Magnet Wall, regardless of the style comes with a Fundamentals Pack of magnetic ramps, rings, and walls. We also include a couple of non-magnetic ramps for fitting into the rings or resting on the magnetic walls, a set of cups for holding balls or other parts that children want to include, and a set of wooden balls. There are plenty of parts in the Fundamentals Pack to get you started!
Will the magnetic parts work on my existing magnet board?
Unfortunetly, they will probably not work. That is unless your magnet board is comprised of 14 gauge steel.
Can children move all the magnetic parts?
Yes! The longest magnetic ramps might require that two children work together, but really it all depends on their age and expereince with arranging the parts. Once they’ve had a few experiences, most children age 3 and up can handle them with ease!
Can write and wipe markers be used on the magnetic panels?
No, they tend to stain the surface.
What age children can use the Magnet Wall?
Children as young as three and adults as old as ninety-three enjoy the Magnet Wall! Kodo Magnet Walls can be found in preschools, family child care homes, recreation centers, elementary schools, community centers, middle schools, children’s museums, and libraries.
