When it comes to creating a lively and engaging classroom, sensory play is a game-changer. With this collection of sand and sensory products, we invite children to dive into different textures, develop their motor skills, and spark their imaginations. From sensory tables to unique accessories, these educational materials make learning new concepts hands-on and of course, fun.

Why Sensory Play is Important to Learning

Sensory play is more than just fun—it’s key to early childhood development. By tapping into different senses—like touch, sight, and sound—kids sharpen their cognitive skills and build creativity. This Sand and Sensory collection gives children the chance to explore different textures, experiment with cause and effect, and engage in open-ended play. These aren’t just toys either; they’re tools that help kids understand the world around them through hands-on experiences.

Bringing Sensory Play to Your Classroom

Adding sensory products to your classroom isn’t just a nice-to-have, they’re really helpful to young learners. Sensory play enhances focus, helps kids build social skills, and promotes collaborative learning. When teachers incorporate these Sand and Sensory materials into their classrooms, they give their students a chance to engage in active learning, leading to better understanding and more meaningful interactions. Whether you’re encouraging problem-solving or just providing a calming space, these sensory products are versatile tools for any learning environment.

Sand & Sensory Products You’ll Love

The Sand and Water Play Table is a classroom favorite. It lets kids experiment with sand and water, offering endless opportunities for exploration. With its large surface, it’s perfect for group activities where students can work together, share, and learn from each other. It’s a hands-on way to bring sensory learning to life.

The Exploration Trays are another great pick. These trays are perfect for introducing new materials—whether it’s sand, beans, or other small objects—allowing students to experiment with textures in a contained, hands-on way. Teachers can easily switch out materials to keep things fresh and exciting for their students.

For kids curious about how things flow, the Flow Pan is a must-have. It helps children explore how water or other materials move, making it a fun way to introduce concepts like gravity and the properties of different substances. It’s a simple yet engaging way to teach basic physics through play.

And don’t forget the Sand Tools Set. Complete with scoops, sifters, and shapers, this set encourages kids to dig in, mold, and create with sand. These tools give children the freedom to explore their creativity and build their own unique projects.

Our products and support are celebrated by educators and children alike.

Jaci I.

Director of Early Childhood Education @ Congregation Beth Elohim

We have set up a sensory room with many of Kodo’s materials–light table, magnet wall, wind tunnel–and it’s a favorite space for all of our classes to visit. Parents and professional visitors are quite impressed with the uniqueness and open-ended aspect of the materials.

I met with the founder many years ago at a NAEYC conference when he was just starting and had just a few products and was immediately impressed with his understanding of how young children learn. It has been a pleasure to watch the company grow while maintaining the integrity of your knowledge of how young children learn best through active participation and exploration of their environment.

Cathy H.

Teacher @ Tennie Russell Primary School

Our little learners are finding new ways to explore through light, movement, engineering and more. Adding the wind tunnel to our lab has been a game changer in terms of excitement level and inquiry. Students eagerly explore how things blow when the tunnel is adjusted to varying angles, and they discover the differences in materials and how well they move through and out of the tunnel. We expanded our engineering/building area by increasing choices with the Swiss Ramp Stands and the Discovery Ramps set. In doing that, we sparked a higher interest in force and motion, including problem-solving on how to stop said motion. These are just some of the items we purchased from Kodo Kids with our grant, and we look forward to seeing our young minds at work as we continue to expand our STEAM lab.

Nature Preschool Teacher @ Oak Ridge Elementary

The Outdoor Ramps have been a fantastic addition to support outdoor learning at Oak Ridge Elementary. Students in preschool through 1st grade have been able to use the ramps in multiple environments, including indoors, on our playground, in our forest outdoor classroom, and in our prairie outdoor classroom. In addition, all students, regardless of their abilities, have been able to participate in ramp play. Students who are wheelchair-bound are able to participate in ramp play with their classmates due to having longer length sections that reach the child’s chair height.
