Child-powered tools that compell children to inquire, test, and problem-solve are core elements for all programs. From large scale to small, Kodo's expertly designed tools and equipment increase engagement, elicit scientific thinking, and spark innovation throughout your classrooms!

Science is all about curiosity and discovery, and our Science & Discovery collection is here to fuel both. This collection is filled with learning materials for kids, letting them dive into the world of science. Whether it's the basics of physics, the magic of chemistry, or biology, these products make learning about science engaging. For classrooms and home learning, these resources encourage kids to ask questions, experiment, and develop a love of discovery.

Why Science Education Matters

Getting kids into science early is key to a lifelong interest in the world around them. Science isn’t about memorizing facts; it’s about a mindset of inquiry and discovery. By learning about science through hands-on activities, kids can see concepts come to life before their very eyes. This experiential learning helps them understand how things work, why they happen, and how things interact.

Using science teaching resources encourages kids to think critically and solve problems with a bit of creativity. When kids do play experiments or observe natural phenomena, they learn to ask questions, make predictions, and test their ideas – all critical scientific thinking skills. Plus, these activities build the foundation of knowledge in STEM for later learning.

Learning About Science Hands-On

Bringing science products into the classroom makes learning more fun and interactive. When students get to do science hands-on, they will understand and retain what they learn. These experiences go beyond textbooks and lectures—kids experience science for themselves. From building simple machines to exploring the properties of different materials, these activities bring the lesson to life and make abstract concepts concrete.

Using these science teaching resources also supports differentiated learning, which is important to meeting the needs of all students. Every child learns differently, and these products can cater to different learning styles and levels. Some kids will love to do experiments, while others will prefer to observe and discuss what they see. By providing a range of activities and tools to them, teachers can create a classroom where every student can participate, explore, and learn at their own pace.

Science & Discovery Products You’ll Love

To have a fun science experience, you need a variety of hands-on tools to work with.

The Wind Tunnel is great for teaching about airflow and aerodynamics. Kids can experiment with different objects and shapes to see how they move through the air and visually learn physics concepts. Magnet Wall Chutes and Tubes let kids explore how magnets work. By building different pathways and seeing how objects interact on a magnetic surface, kids learn about attraction, repulsion, and the basic principles of magnetism. Learning is fun, and they get to grasp abstract scientific concepts through play.

For biology lessons, Insect and Animal X-rays give a great view of anatomy. These tools let students see the skeletal structures of different creatures up close and personal. By handling these X-rays, kids can learn about the internal makeup of insects and animals, be curious, and understand the natural world.

Lastly, Magnifying Blocks magnify objects so kids can see the details of everyday things. This type of hands-on exploration helps develop a keen eye and appreciation for the small things in their world.

Explore More with Kodo Kids

Director of Early Childhood Education @ Congregation Beth Elohim

We have set up a sensory room with many of Kodo’s materials–light table, magnet wall, wind tunnel–and it’s a favorite space for all of our classes to visit. Parents and professional visitors are quite impressed with the uniqueness and open-ended aspect of the materials.

I met with the founder many years ago at a NAEYC conference when he was just starting and had just a few products and was immediately impressed with his understanding of how young children learn. It has been a pleasure to watch the company grow while maintaining the integrity of your knowledge of how young children learn best through active participation and exploration of their environment.

Cathy H.

Teacher @ Tennie Russell Primary School

Our little learners are finding new ways to explore through light, movement, engineering and more. Adding the wind tunnel to our lab has been a game changer in terms of excitement level and inquiry. Students eagerly explore how things blow when the tunnel is adjusted to varying angles, and they discover the differences in materials and how well they move through and out of the tunnel. We expanded our engineering/building area by increasing choices with the Swiss Ramp Stands and the Discovery Ramps set. In doing that, we sparked a higher interest in force and motion, including problem-solving on how to stop said motion. These are just some of the items we purchased from Kodo Kids with our grant, and we look forward to seeing our young minds at work as we continue to expand our STEAM lab.

Nature Preschool Teacher @ Oak Ridge Elementary

The Outdoor Ramps have been a fantastic addition to support outdoor learning at Oak Ridge Elementary. Students in preschool through 1st grade have been able to use the ramps in multiple environments, including indoors, on our playground, in our forest outdoor classroom, and in our prairie outdoor classroom. In addition, all students, regardless of their abilities, have been able to participate in ramp play. Students who are wheelchair-bound are able to participate in ramp play with their classmates due to having longer length sections that reach the child’s chair height.
