Looking for ways to make math more fun and interactive for kids? Start here with our Math & Manipulatives. We’ve gathered a variety of hands-on tools that turn math into something kids can see, touch, and play with. Perfect for classroom or at-home learning, these tools help students understand mathematical concepts in a fun and concrete way. Whether you’re an educator looking to supplement your math curriculum or a parent wanting to support your child’s learning, these are math-made easy and enjoyable.

Why Hands-On Math Matters

Math is a fundamental skill that kids will use for the rest of their lives, but traditional methods of teaching math don’t capture a child’s attention. That’s where our math manipulatives come in – they turn learning from a passive experience into an active one. These products make math less mysterious and more relevant by providing tangible tools for kids to manipulate. When kids use their hands to explore numbers, shapes, and patterns, they are not just learning math but experiencing it.

Hands-on math learning is effective because it caters to different learning styles. Visual learners see mathematical concepts in a physical form; kinesthetic learners get to manipulate objects to solve problems physically. This multisensory approach makes learning more inclusive, and students retain information longer. By engaging multiple senses, manipulatives encourage students to think about math differently beyond memorizing formulas and procedures.

Bringing Math & Manipulatives into the Classroom

Using math manipulatives in classroom lessons can make a big difference to student learning. When students can interact with math concepts physically, they will understand and remember them better. This is especially important for younger kids developing their number sense and mathematical reasoning. Using manipulatives, students can explore addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in a way that makes sense and builds a solid foundation for future learning.

Moreover, manipulatives encourage collaborative learning. When kids work together to solve problems using these tools, they learn to communicate their ideas, listen to others, and develop social and mathematical skills. Teachers who use manipulatives find students more engaged and enthusiastic about math, as these tools make lessons more interactive and fun. By turning abstract ideas into concrete experiences, manipulatives help students build self-confidence and a positive attitude toward math.

Math & Manipulatives Products You’ll Love

It's essential to have tools that cover various mathematical concepts to maximize learning potential. The Natural Sorting Stones are excellent for introducing young learners to counting and sorting. These tactile stones help children develop their number sense by physically moving and categorizing the pieces, making math engaging and educational.

The Endless Pattern Tiles are perfect for teaching patterns and sequences. Students can explore geometric shapes and designs, enhancing their understanding of spatial reasoning. These tiles offer a hands-on way to learn symmetry and geometry and are ideal for creative, visual learners.

Animal Habitat Matching Tiles are great for combining math with science. These tiles help students understand classification and sorting while exploring habitats and animals. This dual-purpose tool enhances math and natural science skills, providing a fun, integrative learning experience.

Each product supports a different aspect of mathematical learning, ensuring a well-rounded approach in the classroom.

Trusted by Educators

Don’t just take our word for it…

Our products and support are celebrated by educators and children alike.

Jaci I.

Director of Early Childhood Education @ Congregation Beth Elohim

We have set up a sensory room with many of Kodo’s materials–light table, magnet wall, wind tunnel–and it’s a favorite space for all of our classes to visit. Parents and professional visitors are quite impressed with the uniqueness and open-ended aspect of the materials.

I met with the founder many years ago at a NAEYC conference when he was just starting and had just a few products and was immediately impressed with his understanding of how young children learn. It has been a pleasure to watch the company grow while maintaining the integrity of your knowledge of how young children learn best through active participation and exploration of their environment.

Cathy H.

Teacher @ Tennie Russell Primary School

Our little learners are finding new ways to explore through light, movement, engineering and more. Adding the wind tunnel to our lab has been a game changer in terms of excitement level and inquiry. Students eagerly explore how things blow when the tunnel is adjusted to varying angles, and they discover the differences in materials and how well they move through and out of the tunnel. We expanded our engineering/building area by increasing choices with the Swiss Ramp Stands and the Discovery Ramps set. In doing that, we sparked a higher interest in force and motion, including problem-solving on how to stop said motion. These are just some of the items we purchased from Kodo Kids with our grant, and we look forward to seeing our young minds at work as we continue to expand our STEAM lab.

Anna D.

Nature Preschool Teacher @ Oak Ridge Elementary

The Outdoor Ramps have been a fantastic addition to support outdoor learning at Oak Ridge Elementary. Students in preschool through 1st grade have been able to use the ramps in multiple environments, including indoors, on our playground, in our forest outdoor classroom, and in our prairie outdoor classroom. In addition, all students, regardless of their abilities, have been able to participate in ramp play. Students who are wheelchair-bound are able to participate in ramp play with their classmates due to having longer length sections that reach the child’s chair height.
