Kodo Art Basic Kit

The Kodo Art Basic Kit is designed to help little Picassos and van Goghs in your classroom bring out their imagination. This engaging toolkit offers a variety of fun and interactive materials that encourage artistic exploration. At the heart of the kit is the Sand Tray, a beautifully crafted wooden tray with a clear bottom. Children can use 2 lbs. of fine quartz sand, a smoothing tool, and two rakes to create unique designs, learning about positive and negative space along the way. The Sand Tray Light Panel fits underneath, illuminating the sand and enhancing the artistic experience with vibrant light. Kids will love using the Sand Writers—two funnel-shaped tools that allow them to write and draw in the sand.

Sand Tray: This beautiful wooden tray with a clear base offers a space to create designs in the sand and play with the artistic concepts of positive and negative space, which includes:

  • 2 lbs. fine quartz sand
  • One sand smoothing tool
  • Two sand rakes


Sand Tray Light Panel: Place the Sand Tray Light Panel under the Sand Tray to illuminate the clear bottom. As sand is moved, vibrant white light fills the negative space.

Sand Tray Mirror: Experiment with the artistic concepts of reflection and symmetry. This acrylic mirror has wooden feet for use in the Sand Tray or on a tabletop.

Sand Writers: The Sand Writer is a funnel in pen form. Children fill the acrylic tube with very fine sand that trickles out of the bottom. Set of two included.

Patterned Rolling Pins: This set of four wooden rolling pins is an essential art tool for sensory applications. Glide the pins across sand or clay to reveal a pattern.

Water Canvas: Paint with water on the white canvas and see works of art turn black, then fade back to white as the surface dries. Includes five yards of water canvas and four foam brushes.

    At Kodo, safety is a top priority. All products have been tested and are compliant with ASTM F963, which is the CPSC's guidelines for toy testing safety in the USA.

  • Yes- our products come with a one-year warranty that covers all manufacturer defects. We stand behind the quality of what we make. Above this, we happily assist with part repair for all products.

    Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery for any reason if the item is in new, unused condition. In these cases the customer is responsible for repackaging and return shipping costs.

    The box the items were originally shipped in can be reused if the sizing is appropriate. Once your return is received, our warehouse will inspect the item to see if it is eligible for a refund. If so, you will receive a full refund for the item(s), along with an email message confirming receipt. No unauthorized returns will be accepted
