Kodo Coconut

Kodo Coconut is simply a brick of compressed coconut husk. Originally intended as a planting medium, this hard brick slowly expands to four times its size in water. Spongy and fibrous, the resulting material has a unique feel and interesting texture. When dried out, the light husk particles are fun to dig in and pour. Once the kids are finished, they can toss it in the grass or garden, or better yet, plant seeds and start a whole new project.

Coconut, the seed of a drupaceous fruit, has typically not been restricted in the diets of people with tree nut allergy. However, in October of 2006, the FDA began identifying coconut as a tree nut. The available medical literature contains documentation of a small number of allergic reactions to coconut; most occurred in people who were not allergic to other tree nuts.
